Reception is the point of contact between the school and its neurological centre. It is a welcoming space, acting a school/family communications centre in both directions. A model of the school presides over the entrance provides a complete view of our facilities.
It is continuously attended by Gemma Juvé, Maribel Mateu and Rosa Monleón throughout school hours.
We have a heated 25m × 12.5m swimming pool, with 300 m2 of auxiliary installations. Our students take one hour per week of swimming classes, practising all styles, water sports and synchronised swimming.
The school has a canteen service open from 8 am to midday and from 4 pm to 7 pm from Monday to Friday. It has a counter and tables suitable for students and their families.
Computer room A has an interactive whiteboard and 17 computers connected to the general La Miranda student network. It has a continuous broadband internet connection and access to all the school’s resources. We also provide Wi-Fi for laptops and a scanner and printer. Computer room B has 20 64 bit computers connected to the general La Miranda student network. It has a continuous broadband internet connection and access to all the school’s resources. It is equipped with Wi-Fi for laptops. It has a printer, plotter and scanner, and an interactive whiteboard.
A 400m2 space with over 100,000 books, audiobooks and audio-visual and multimedia titles for reading and studying. With plenty of natural light, it includes 2 consultation computers and a computerised archive. The furniture includes tables for 2 or 4 readers, trollies to deposit books, 6-level shelves, etc. There is also a special place for the children to enjoy story-telling. The timetable is flexible, and the library is open to all students during morning and midday break times, and during class time as part of school’s academic activities.
The 120 m2 Technology room has 15 tables for group work in mechanics, woodwork and electrics. We do practical sessions in marquetry, model making, fixed and mobile triangular structures, engraving, electricity and hardware. The school participates in the First Lego League. This involves a team of students from 11 to 16 years old who carry out research on a subject related to the environment and complete a science and technology project.They then construct a Lego robot which has to pass certain tests in the shortest time possible. We have a 3D printer which allows the students to design and print in 3 dimensions.
La Miranda has three specialised laboratories: physics, biology and chemistry. Each is equipped with everything needed for experiments in each subject. The labs have a Wi-Fi connection for laptops. They are available to students for research projects, supervised by a teacher-project leader. The natural science lab also has a digital blackboard.
At La Miranda we are especially proud of our kitchen and dining facilities. Especially designed for this school, they are equipped with the most up-to-date technology. They are regularly subjected to the most accurate quality and hygiene tests. The professional kitchen staff is qualified to work in this important area. Meals are prepared according to nutritional criteria, respecting the dietary preferences of our pupils. Students can opt for green salad and seasonal fruit every day. In the summer we serve gazpacho in order to guarantee the daily minimum of fruit and vegetables.
The dining rooms are set to four different levels and timetables according to student needs: nursery, early learning, primary and secondary.To make sure the dining room runs smoothly, the tutors themselves are in charge of monitoring mealtimes.
As well as all the external installations (football pitches, basketball courts, Ping-Pong tables, an external patio to work on motor skills, sports patio), La Miranda also has a large sports complex, extending to approximately 900 m2, where students can practice a wide selection of sports.
Every year the hall hosts the families who can come and watch the sports festival, which takes place at the end of the year and demonstrates the students’ professionalism and respect.
The centre includes a theatre with a capacity of 400. The theatre is equipped with all modern technologies: surround sound, mixing table, video projector, projection screen, computers on stage and in the cabin, video, DVD, stage lighting with independent control table, ambient microphone, etc. The stage has all necessary parts: proscenium, forum, stage left with wings, stage right with wings, and judges’ box with digital screen. There is also a grand piano. It is the perfect setting for the Christmas festival, graduations, conferences, performances, special days, as well as student concerts and plays.
iSupport is a new concept of an interactive technical support room. At La Miranda we have created this new concept. iSupport began as a point of support and help for our teaching staff. Little by little we have grown this room to be a “meeting point” for students and teachers, whereby they can share ideas, demonstrate their work and projects and share ideas and brainstorm together.
La Miranda’s sports facilities include an outdoor pool. During the summer season our students can enjoy a refreshing dip in the outdoor pool, making the hot summer days more fun.
The school can count on a nurses office and a medical cabinet which is looked after at all times by a doctor during the school day. A team of first aiders are always on hand, specialised in accidents and illnesses which are commonly found at schools. The hospital of San Juan de Dios is only 3 minutes away from the school, which guarantees immediate attention in case of an emergency. Furthermore, the schools insurance company, ASEPEYO, guarantees complete medical assistance.
The gymnasium covers an area of 200m2, with a wooden floor, equipped with all the necessary apparatus for this kind of facility: jumping apparatus, horizontal bar, parallel bars, rhythmic gymnastic equipment, olympic, dance, regional dance, ballroom dance, jazz etc...
One of the football pitches has astroturf and students can practice various sports and fun activities there.
There is an ample distribution of playgrounds for the whole school.
The school vegetable patch is a green area where students can discover the nature and agriculture. They themselves prepare, sow, cultivate, take care of, watch the plants grow and pick different types of seasonal vegetables, green vegetables, fruits and aromatic plants.
Motor skills room
The younger students love the motor skills room! It is a classroom, 150 m2, equipped with advanced motor skills equipment. All students in nursery and early education have access to this space, every day, to work on their motor skills. We have a teacher who is specialised in this area who supervises the activity in all nursery groups.
The dormitories have been specially designed to make sure our youngest the well-deserved rest they need. It is used by children in the nursery, in years P2 and P3.
They are monitored by their teachers at all times, who make sure they get the sleep they need.
