International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme

The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IBMYP) is a rigorous academic framework that encourages students to make valuable connections between their studies and the real world. This Middle Years course is designed to be an inclusive, broad-based programme; therefore, students with diverse academic interests and aptitudes benefit from participating in the comprehensive curriculum.

The MYP content is suitable for young students aged 12 to 16 who attend accredited schools that are authorised to deliver the programme.

IB students are citizens of the world

The MYP curriculum framework comprises 8 subject groups to provide a broad and balanced education for early adolescents. The course requires at least 50 hours of teaching time for each subject group for every year of the programme. In the final two years, carefully-defined subject group flexibility allows MYP students to fulfil local requirements for educational and personal learning goals.

The MYP framework is inclusive by design; Middle Years pupils with various interests and academic abilities can benefit from participation. The MYP course structure is comprehensive and offers globalised learning opportunities, and it can also be adapted to form an academically-selective course of study.
