History

Since its foundation on 2 October 1967, La Miranda has always been a pioneering school. La Miranda has always been at the forefront of he world of education.
Founded by teachers Pere Sureda and Joana Fradera, the school was born of a wish to face up to the situation of education at the time, aiming to promote a pioneering, modern, solid educational project, with a humanist ideology.

The first step in making this a reality was to purchase a building in a green environment, the ideal place to put a school. The first teachers were two former students who had completed their teaching qualifications and were enthusiastic about the project. At that time the school had 20 pupils.

By the 1970s, thanks to the vocation and hard work of its founders, La Miranda had established itself as one of the best schools in Barcelona. When the number of students reached 100 the A building (now known as the PAU building) was constructed; later, in the 1980s, the Olympic Pool, the Primary Education building and the main entrance were built.

The celebration of the schoolís 25th anniversary in 1992 coincided with the introduction of a new educational system, with new technological requirements that made it necessary to extend linguistic competences, equipment, timetables and subjects, adapted to the needs of our students and society.
